News & Press Wharton Private Equity Conference cracks the code (Wharton Journal 02/07/2005)
The Eleventh Annual Wharton Private Equity
Conference theme of "Cracking the Code" could not have been more
appropriate as over 840 attendees, including more than 500 industry
professionals, descended upon Philadelphia to share perspectives on
emerging issues in private equity. Critical debates ensued, as keynote
speakers promoted adding value through operations and avoiding sectors
that are subject to overinvestment. "What the wise do at the beginning,
fools do at the end," cautioned Howard Marks W'67 during his lunch
keynote. Although the speakers may have aired differing opinions on how
exactly to "Crack the Code" and deliver outsized returns, all
participants were in agreement that the conference was a success and has
set professional standard for student initiated conferences. [

2004 Private Equity Conference Highlights (Wharton Journal 02/09/2004)
On Friday 23rd January, the annual Wharton Private
Equity Conference opened its doors for the tenth time. Forty-two
panelist speakers, nine moderators, half-a-dozen keynote speakers and
some five hundred students made the daylong conference and its small
army of volunteer organizers proud - it was certainly one of the best
Wharton conferences I have attended. [
