Mr. Rosenthal joined Ares Management in March of 1998 from Merrill Lynch & Co. and has been directing the operations of the Ares mezzanine/private equity group since that time. At Merrill Lynch, Mr. Rosenthal was a Managing Director in the Global Leveraged Finance Group and was responsible for originating, structuring, and negotiating many of the firm's most significant high yield bond transactions. Mr. Rosenthal was also a senior member of Merrill Lynch's Leveraged Transaction Commitment Committee. His transaction experience is both acquisition and non-acquisition related across a broad range of industries including retail, telecommunications, media, healthcare, financial services and consumer products. Previously, Mr. Rosenthal was an Associate in the Financial Institutions Group at Drexel Burnham Lambert Incorporated. Mr. Rosenthal is a member of or representative to the following Boards of Directors: Allied Office Products Holding Co., Elizabeth Arden Salon-Holdings, Inc., and Speakeasy, Inc. Mr. Rosenthal graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business where he also received his M.B.A. with distinction.
