
Timothy Purcell Managing Director J.P.Morgan Partners
Based in New York, Tim is responsible for J.P. Morgan Partners' investment activities in Latin America and is the Managing Partner of J.P. Morgan Latin America Capital Partners. Tim has been directly involved in several of JPMP's portfolio investments and represents Morgan Capital's interests on the boards of Alicorp (Peru), Cinemex (Mexico), Corfuerte (Mexico), MSF (Venezuela), and Latasa (Brazil). He also served as a board member of Nortel (Argentina) and Patagon.com (Argentina).
Born in New York but raised in Chile, Tim earned a B.A. degree from Cornell University and an M.B.A. and M.A. in international affairs from the Wharton School and the University of Pennsylvania, respectively. He joined J.P. Morgan's M&A group in 1986, where he specialized in advising the firm's corporate clients in the southern cone countries of Brazil, Argentina, and Chile. In 1992, Tim moved to the firm's Buenos Aires office, to manage Morgan's large buy-side privatization advisory assignments, such as the successful acquisition of TGN, in which Tim organized a group of private equity investors, including Morgan Capital, to join the buying consortium. In 1993, Tim moved to Santiago, Chile, to start up Morgan's Chilean operations. In early 1996, Tim returned to New York to assume his current position. He is fluent in Spanish and Portuguese.
