Jim McNiel joined Pequot Capital Management in 1999 as vice president. Now principal, he is responsible for exploring new investment opportunities across a variety of technologies and counseling chief executives of portfolio companies. Mr. McNiel's 20-year career in high technology and venture investing combines experience in engineering, hands-on business development and tenure as an entrepreneur. Before joining Pequot Capital, Mr. McNiel was executive vice president of Corporate Development with Cheyenne Software (AMEX:CYE). Mr. McNiel has served as executive vice president and director for Spike Technologies, executive vice president of USWeb, director of Advanced Products for AST Research and as software development manager for Lucasfilm Ltd. Most recently Mr. McNeil was president of McNiel Group, Ltd. Before joining in a full-time capacity, Mr. McNiel worked with Pequot Capital as a consultant identifying new technology opportunities.
