Al Hurley is Senior Vice President and Head of the Private Equity Division of Merrill Lynch. He is responsible for the management, strategic development and coordination of the firm's direct investment private equity activities as well as the creation and management of new Merrill Lynch-sponsored direct investment private equity funds and joint ventures.

Al joined the firm in 1976. His prior assignments include Head of Merrill Lynch Global Markets and Advisory's Japanese origination businesses (Investment Banking, Equity and Debt Capital Markets), Co-Head of Investment Banking's Global Industries Group, Head of New Product Development and various positions in the firm's Project Finance and Municpal Finance Departments.

Al graduated cum laude from Princeton with an A.B. in history in 1976.
