Thanasis's background includes a mix of technology startup, finance and strategy consulting experience. Before May of 2000, he held executive positions at two internet media companies (etang, a leading Chinese portal; and LiveOnTheNet.com, an internet webcasting company).

Prior to that, he spent two years in charge of investment banking for Thermo Electron Corp., a global technology company serving the life sciences, optical technologies and measurement and control markets. There he managed public and private market transactions totaling $900 million and advised the CEO and CFO on corporate structure and financial strategies.

Thanasis also worked for: McKinsey & Co. in Washington, D.C. as a management consultant on issues of organizational change, business strategy, and marketing for Fortune 500 companies; iMarket, a business-to-business direct marketing software company, in new product development; and Merck, in information systems development.
